The purpose of this article is to point out etymology of words envoy/messenger as names of angels and prophets in Polish biblical and koranical translations and also ways of their translations from Hebrew, Greek and Arabic in religious texts above. It is also an attempt at claiming if phraseological connections with words envoy/messenger (which exist in Lithuanian and Polish Tatars and in Polish translations of Koran) are characteristic for this type of texsts during producing so-called koranical phraseology and if and in which way they refl ect biblical phraseology or Polish?, so to establish a range and charakter of the connections between biblical and koranical translations. The source material comes from a number of texts varying with regard to their form and the time of creation. The selected words were taken from both the Polish translations of the Koran (19th and 20th century) and old texts of Lithuanian and Polish Tatars (preserved copies of 16th century texts) written with Arabic spelling requiring transcription and transliteration. These are Muslim religious texts and they were chosen taking into consideration the thematic criterion. The words were also selected from the translations of the Bible (16th and 17th century and the contemporary versions).
