Abstract
Contrary to what should be the case, proximity to Portugal does not encourage knowledge of its history and the history manuals of Spain are very rare in which the Portuguese Middle Ages are given the real importance, and in the European Medieval History treaties, the space dedicated to Portugal is minimal, at least until the time of discovering; on the other hand, there are few Spanish medievalists who are interested in Portugal’s history. Given these silence and the limited presence in Spanish libraries of Portuguese works, the history student can think that the neighbouring country does not have prominent medievalists, that his medieval story is to do... and nothing further away from reality, as I will try to prove in this brief, non-exhaustive comment on some of the latest publications in Portugal.
