Education as a measure of resocialization to the private freedom of the State Penitentiary of Cruzeiro do Oeste (PECO) Resumo O Presente artigo tem por objetivo investigar a oferta de educação escolar na Penitenciária Estadual de Cruzeiro do Oeste (PECO). Os dados analisados foram obtidos por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica que, ao analisar a privação de liberdade enquanto execução penal, ressaltou a negação de seus direitos. Também foi realizada pesquisa de campo com os alunos da instituição escolar em questão. A análise dos dados evidenciou que a educação escolar é importante para esses alunos privados de liberdade, interferindo diretamente no processo de sua possível ressocialização. O estudo revelou que apenas o processo educacional não é suficiente para resolver o problema da criminalidade no Brasil, a garantia de todos os direitos fundamentais é primordial em dois aspectos: ressocialização e prevenção. Palavras-chave: Prisão; Educação escolar; Ressocialização.  Abstract The present article has the objective of investigating the offer of school education in the State Penitentiary of Cruzeiro do Oeste (PECO). The data analyzed were obtained through a bibliographical research that, when analyzing the deprivation of freedom as a criminal execution, emphasized the denial of their rights. Field research was also carried out with the students of the school institution in question. The analysis of the data showed that school education is important for those deprived of their liberty, interfering with the process of re-socialization of the prisoner. The study revealed that only the educational process is not enough to solve the problem of crime in Brazil, the guarantee of all fundamental rights is paramount in two respects: resocialization and prevention.
