Abstract
This article seeks to make a comparative analysis of the processes of constructing the identities of Brazilians living abroad as immigrants, starting from what I call the ‘process of exotisation’. I compare in detail the exotisation process between Brazilians in Porto, Portugal, with similar cases in four other destination countries of Brazilian immigrants: England, Argentina, USA and Japan. Finally, I try to make some reflections on the distinctions and similarities between these cases in such different places.
