Abstract
Gender equity from an educational perspective is one of the key conditions for ensuring the integration of different population sectors that would otherwise be deprived of quality and efficient education. The test is based on the perception and judgement of various authors such as Baute, Pérez and Luque (2017); Bell (2017); Mayorga (2018); Buquet (2016); PESSINA (2017); Sources (2016), seeking to mitigate and reduce differences based on gender mainstreaming from the process of assessing the consequences, especially in the field of education. While a number of aspects of equality have been worked and enhanced in recent years, a number of efforts have been made by education systems in this regard, but there is still a need for action to achieve full equity. The objective is based on analysing various aspects, criteria and concepts that address gender equality in higher education in Ecuador, comparing the progress achieved, the shortcomings that still exist and the actions that may be taken.
