Abstract
[it] This research compares the data collected from the texts concerning the Justiniano imperator with the information on sex illnesses in the context of Proto Bisanzio. A agographic text, the Life of San Sansone, tells: a serious illness affects Justinian genital organs and doctors are unable to treat it. The disease is resolved by a miracle from San Sansone. This adynaton places the imperator in a ‘cover space’. After the 23th or 24th year of his kingdom, Justiniano suffers from leg disorders, accompanied by pain during the mine. Körbler assumes that these symptoms are due to syphilis. The leg disturbance is dealt with by the intercession of the Cosma and Damiano slanders. Imperator’s disease thus proves to be the place of agographic literature. The adynaton then confirms the imperial institution and asserts the adequacy of the sovereign.
