The quality management system shall: element for the competitiveness and sustainability of Colombian agricultural production

Abstract

In the context of increasing market globalisation, changing consumption habits, frequent outbreaks of food-borne diseases (eets), social organisations and governments are seeking to ensure that food production and provision includes ensuring safety at all stages of the chain. One of the ways to achieve this is the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) with #nes of certi # cation in agricultural production units; the process addresses #nca from the point of view of the general theory of systems, with # set by production and supporting subsystems; these include both technical and administrative activities that seek to optimise processes, maintaining sustainability and social responsibility criteria with the # n of achieving food production with pre-established quality criteria. The process of developing and implementing the MCS requires the construction and operation of documents or manuals supporting administrative, productive and producer organisation aspects, which are structured to meet the requirements of a standard, protocol or code of conduct, compliance with them is verified through audits that may lead to the granting of the product or service quality certification or label, the process can be carried out individually by a producer, or by an organisation of producers
