Based on a wide range of documentation, but where the significance of the census is defining, the article analyses the political, trade union and everyday life patterns of the social and spatial figures of the Barcelonese workers. The precarious working conditions and everyday life in the city, together with social mobility more bloody than that of other workers, help explain a more than normal revolutionary presence in the unskilled workers who emigrated to the capital from outside Catalonia.
