Abstract

(Series Information) European Papers - A Journal on Law and Integration, 2019 4(3), 913-916 | European Forum Highlight of 12 December 2019 | (Abstract) On 28 August 2019, Boris Johnson asked Queen Elizabeth II for a prorogation, i.e. the suspension of the British Parliament for a period of five weeks. The British Supreme Court ruled on 24 September 2019 that the prorogation is illegal, null and void and at the same time attempts to prevent the crystallization of debates on leaving the United Kingdom from the European Union, in the British Parliament.
