Co-creation of reading activities with young people, following the example of the Literace Escape Room at the Maria Dąbrowska Municipal Public Library in Komorów,

Abstract

Okres is a time to look for themselves and shape their own life path, often linked to rebellion and denial of what comes from adults. It is widely recognised that teenagers are the group of pupils most difficult to find with out-of-school educational activities. It is during this period that literature can be very helpful in looking at problems from distance, finding solutions and forming one’s own personality. In an attempt to encourage contemporary netgeneration to use literary texts and spend time in the library, libraries are increasingly expanding the offer of the latest technologies or multimedia workshops. The availability of such solutions depends on the financial and housing capacity of the establishment. Smaller public libraries need less costly solutions to increase the turnout of young people in cultural institutions. The article presents opportunities for youth work in the public library by inviting them to co-create their activities, following the example of the implemented Literace Peace Project Mara Dąbrowska at the Municipal Public Library in Comoros. The success of the inclusion of adolescents in activities has brought many benefits to volunteers, local students and the Library itself. During the project, participants were encouraged to come to the Library as well as to familiarise themselves with the works and curriculum vitae of Maria Dąbrowska. After the end of this project, the volunteers who make up this peace of the queue also come to the library and plan the next activities.
