Agile philosophy applied to knowledge management: systematic literature mapping

Abstract

Existe growing interest in the influence of agile thinking and philosophy on organisational knowledge management. Despite this interest, there are still no studies on the types of research that are being conducted in this area and which topics are most investigated in relation to the use of agile methods in knowledge management. Thus, a systematic literature mapping was conducted in order to collaborate with an overview of the area. Initially, 1.283 studies investigating the theoretical bridge between agile methods and knowledge management were analysed. Among them, 122 were implicitly relating the agile method to knowledge management, and only 14 took into account the criteria for inclusion and exclusion of articles determined by the authors of this study. The 14 items were selected and ranked according to their contribution. As a result, a map of research in the area has been developed and the most and less researched topics have been identified, pointing out that most studies focus on investigating how the practices, tools and techniques of so-called agile methodologies can be used to enhance and leverage organisational knowledge management. The need to investigate philosophy and, above all, the thinking that precedes the agile methods applied to knowledge management, is highlighted, and progress is being made in this discussion.
