Abstract

At the beginning of the fifth year of uninterrupted publication of the Research, Development and Innovation Review, the changes made to the publication in areas such as: standardisation of the cover page, uniformity in the diagram of the articles, adjustment of quotations and references to standard APA6, as well as the reorganisation of the editorial committee. The English table of contents was recently included and suggested how to quote each article. The electronic ISSN was also managed in order to clearly identify the material available on the WEB page. All of the above, including the mostly external peer evaluation process, and the follow-up to the correctness of manuscripts. At the time, the magazine is listed in the ColSciences call for the indexation of scientific journals for the first half of 2014, in which we hope that the magazine will maintain the category C of the IBN Publindex. With the above adjustments and indexation, the next step in the consolidation of this editorial project will be to achieve the inclusion of the magazine in one of the ColScies-recognised SIRES. In Vol. 5 No 1, six articles are included, resulting from the research process on issues relating to administration, education and engineering, one of which corresponds to the University of Sucre, while the remaining five are part of UPTC master programmes. In the first article: Assessment of the degree of competitiveness of five companies in the dairy sector in Sincijo, Colombia. In Article 2: The influence of information and communication technologies on the ownership of analogue electronics concepts, in seventh degree students in basic education. In Article 3: Changes in initial and induced conceptions of the nature of mathematics and their teaching, in students of a bachelor’s programme in mathematics and statistics. In Article 4: Didactics and their relationship to the design of learning environments: a look at technological developments. In Article 5: Implementation of a plasma gas treatment system, using a dielectric barrier discharge cell. In Article 6: Design and construction of a 1680 W Tesla coil for teaching basic concepts in electrical power systems. Once again, those interested in publishing the results of their nvstigation work are invited to send their manuscripts, which must correspond to one of the three types accepted by ColSciences in order to recognise a scientific journal: research articles, review articles and reflection articles, formal requirements can be found at the end of this number or on our WEB page, in the authors’ instructions.
