Abstract
This project includes the study of national and foreign visitors to the high area of the Cotacachi Cayapas National Park (PNCC) corresponding to the Province of Imbabura in Ecuador, and its main objective is to characterise its profile. The descriptive and exploratory method was used in this investigation. Existing scientific literature on travel motivations was reviewed in secondary sources. Field research, through direct observation, allowed for a better visual appreciation of the site and for certain facts (inflow of tourists, gender, lagoon conservation, etc.). A survey (2015), with general questions related to demographic, socio-economic, psychographic and other profiles, was applied to 383 domestic and foreign tourists who visited the park, especially the Laguna de Cuicocha.
