Abstract
En negotiations began in October 2012 between the President’s government, Juan Manuel Santos, and the guerrilla of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (hereinafter FARC-EP) in the city of Havana, Cuba, in order to seek a definitive end to the internal armed conflict that has hit Colombia for more than forty years. The compass of this new peace attempt is an agenda presented by the government and contains five points that focus on land redistribution, agricultural development, the end of war and drug trafficking, and the rights to truth and political opposition. The text was developed using the bibliographical or documentary method, which consisted of collecting, organising, systematising and analysing information found in books, judgments, articles, etc. on political violence and transitional justice in Colombian. As a conclusion, it is established that the Colombian state, especially its democracy, is undergoing a profound transformation that will entail taking on a political cost in order to obtain such an ambitious fundamental right to peace.
