Deceleration of phrasems in modern poetry: Comparative study between the Spanish and Catalan regions

Abstract

In this article, we analyse defrosting as a linguistic appeal. current of modern poetry. The defrosting reflects the oversaturation of the modern language with cumbersome formulas, which does not reduce, however, the poetry creator but, on the contrary, offers new poets approaches to language material and original expressivity resources. As the linguistic defrosting operation has attracted the attention of many researchers (cf. García-Page, 1989; Galisson, 1994; Rastier, 1997; MEJRI, 2009; Ben Amor, 2006; Blanco, 2012; Català, 2012, etc.), we mention a few proposed classifications that make it possible to reveal as well the defining lines as the means of converting defrosting, and sometimes, specific stylistic effects. Regarding the conceptual tool of this research, our definition defrosting is based, essentially, on the concept of freezing proposed in the within the Theory Sens-TText (see Mel’čuk, 1997, etc.), in particular on the concept de phrasème. We also use the classification of phrases drawn up by the authors of that theory. We present the typologies we have developed to analyse and compare the different cases of defrosting in French and Catalan part of a multilingual poetic corpus that we have formed. We are looking for a formal and detailed description of any kind of frosted phrasem (collocation, speeches, clichés, pragmatem, proverbs, quotations, names own complexes...) from a bilingual contrastive perspective. We indicate: also semantic transformations and various stylistic shades introduced by the defrosting mechanisms in the poetic texts of both languages considered.
