Abstract
This test looks at ways of learning textual understanding in schoolchildren with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), based on authors’ work experiences. A group of ideas is offered that can help to improve the work of teaching staff dealing with students with special educational needs of this kind, based on examples that facilitate their employment. Among the novel pathways offered are pairing and recodification from a visual pattern and structured routines based on the use of visual supports, based on the potential represented by the visual memory of these boys and girls.
