The Mamulengos Theatre of yesterday and today: the importance of recognising Brazil’s Traditional Traditional Theatre as an intangible cultural patrimony of Brazil

Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on the current Mamulengos Theatre in the light of its history, accentuating its resistance as a cultural manifestation over time. Disagrees on aspects related to the recent recognition of this theatre as an intangible and cultural patrimony of Brazil by Iphan (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artiística Nacional). To this end, he uses a specific bibliography and interview with Danilo Cavalkti, a mammary guest and organiser of the Mamulengos Meeting, a festival of great importance in the area.
