REASONS ASSOCIATED WITH VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR AGAINST THE COUPLE IN DEMOBILISED MEN OF THE ARMED CONFLICT

Abstract

The objective of the study was to identify reasons associated with violent behaviour against the couple in the marital relationship of demobilisation of the Colombian armed conflict. 224 men living in a zone of military de-escalation and psychosocial rehabilitation in the Colombian Caribbean Coast were assessed by means of a correlation design, applying two questionnaires for detecting violent behaviour and related reasons. The data were analysed with Chi Cuadrado (x2) and multi-logistic regression analysis in steps. The average number of marital violence was 82.1 %, with verbal attacks, neglect or neglect, threats and coercion. The history of previous marital relationships and mistreatment in them was associated with the current episodes of violence (p < 0.05). Reasons such as feelings of unease, history of mistreatment in the home family, taxation, rabies, among others, were associated with forms of marital assault.
