Chatelperronian deposits in northern Spain

Abstract

Chatelperroniense, represented in the north of Spain by the deposits of Cueva Morín and El Pendo (Cantabria) and LABEKO Koba (Guipúzcoa), but since 1987 excavations have been carried out at Cova Da Valiña (Lugo), which seems to attach level 1 to the Inferenus Perigordiense. This article summarises the research carried out in these three fields on this transition period between the Middle Palelithic and Superior.Chatelperronian is represented in the North of Spain by three sites: Cueva Morín and El Pendo (Cantabria) and LABEKO Koba (Guipúzcoa). It’s after 1987 when Cova Da Valiña (Lugo) was excavated, and its Level 1 was correlated with Chatelperronian horizon. This work is a summary of all research works carried out on three site about transition period between Middie and Upper Paleolithic.
