Abstract
Thinking about Brazilian education from sociology is the proposal of this study. The author’s concern is to understand the contributions made by sociologists in understanding the purpose of education rather than to work exhaustively on their theories. The study seeks to understand as part of the common sense and whether scientific choices are reached, as is the relationship between sociology and education in terms of contributions to the building of contributing knowledge to educational practice and finally how teachers act as a collective in their educational units.
