Perception of students in key education on the conservation of pollinating insects and construction of a floral garden

Abstract

SUMMARY: Pollinating animals are key components in terrestrial ecosystems and essential for the good performance of ecological services in natural and agricultural environments. The most damaging consequence of threats to biodiversity is undoubtedly the extinction of a species. In this way, there was a need to know the perception of students in key education about the importance of pollinating insects and the plants that attract them by refocusing on their conservation. The intervention was implemented in the municipal school of basic education Maria Iraci Teófilo de Castro – Taquarana, AL for 59 pupils, covering two classes of 6nd year. The action was developed through a lecture with an emphasis on raising awareness about the importance of conservation of pollinators and their habitats, together with a plant workshop of 150 floral plant seeds. Before the information was passed on, the performance of learners in replying to the questionnaire proved to be negative. The lack of knowledge of learners on the subject means that serious problems must be triggered, since, at the time when the public does not know the problem in question, it is unable to resolve or reduce it. There is a clear need to work with students on the importance of pollinators for natural ecosystems, as environmental education will only be effective if it leads students to perceive the world that they are around, involving them in a way that raises a critical awareness that seeks solutions to the problem. KEYWORDS: Bees, Ecosystem, sunflower seeds.
