Abstract
Two feminists with different backgrounds and specialisations, a scholar and activist involved in radical social movements and the leader of the largest Italian women’s association (UDI) opened a dialogue on the symbolic violence of sexually explicit advertising, particularly on the use of sexualised forms of violence in advertising. These portraits of women’s submission are widespread in Italy and aim to reinforce patriarchal stereotypes and power relations. The eroticisation of the bodies of girls and adolescents is discussed in a non-moralistic manner. Feminist dialogue is intertwined with forms of action, both at socio-cultural and institutional level.
