Abstract
Objective: The importance of identifying psychopathological co-morbidity makes it possible to respond more effectively to the application of certain specific treatments, depending on the characteristics of individuals with intellectual disabilities and their psychopathological profile. The aim of this review is to describe what interventions are carried out on adult individuals with intellectual disabilities associated with a limiting personality disorder (LLP) and to determine their effectiveness. Approach: in the literature review, 24 articles have been identified, 11 refer to the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in individuals with intellectual disabilities and the implications thereof, and 13 to psychological interventions in the field of intellectual disability and Nordic LTV. The databases used are WOS (Web of Science), SCOPUS, CINALH, PsycINFO, LILACS and the Cochrane bookshop. Results: the psychotherapeutic approach in people with intellectual disabilities is controversial and there is limited evidence on psychological therapies. As regards the interventions used, the favourable results for the reduction of symptomatology are behavioural dialectic therapy.
