Abstract
This article presents the results of a study carried out as part of the French-speaking initiative for distance learning for masters (Ifadem). This project, co-piloted by the International Organisation of Francophonie (OIF) and the Francophonie University Agency (AUF), aims to develop a hybrid device that combines traditional training, the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and distance learning methods for the teaching of French. The first experiment took place in four countries, including three from Africa: Burundi, Benin and Madagascar. As a follow-up to the Ifadem project, the aim of this study is to provide a picture of the role of ICT in the initial training of French teachers in Africa. We conclude that the integration of ICT in the initial training of teachers in French is ongoing, which leads us to recommend avenues for a relevant use of ICT.
