The slope gradient between two given points on the terrain can be obtained by means of the distance between contour lines on topographic maps. The program PENDIENTES, written in FORTRAN by the author, produces a set of tables, having values of slope gradient, to be used with topographic maps. A set of such tables is included to be used with the topographic maps available in Mexico.
