QUALITY OF LIFE IN PEOPLE WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Abstract

The objective of this study is to implement the Kidslife Scala (Gómez et al., 2016) in children and adolescents diagnosing autism spectrum and disability, and to analyse the influence of personal variables such as age, sex, degree of disability and support needs on their quality of life. Materials and methods. A quantitative methodology is used with an intentional sample of 35 participants from a ‘special education institution’. The stopover was completed by staff of this centre. Results. The Kidslife Scale is useful for studying the quality of life in this population, with significant personal variables among dimensions of social inclusion, physical well-being, material well-being, emotional well-being and quality of life interpersonal relationships. Conclusions. There is a difference in score between direct care staff such as assistants and professionals such as educators, psychologists, etc. Recommendations. It is suggested that stops should be made which can be self-filled by the participants themselves.
