This dossier presents various counter-hegemic expressions that give an account of power disputes and provide unique stories from the dominant official and academic account of women’s conditions and social agency in Africa. In return, the stories of women and women – and their absences – in Africa’s history (s) become evident. The many expressions of violence against women – including epistemic violence – from and in African contexts in African voices, experiences and reflections are also put on the table.
