On the links between Spain and Argentina in the Note [1915-1917]

Abstract

The work concerns the Argentinian weekly newspaper The Note to read, between 1915 and 1917, in the light of the Great War, some emergencies of the reconfiguration of certain topical areas of intellectual and literary debates that were dominant in the years immediately preceding and still in force, as was the national and associated issue, the place assigned to cultural relations between Spain and Argentina in this area. Thus, through the interventions of various authors around the war, the magazine, while showing how the role of culture – and thus of the intellectuals – are thought to offer, depending on the case, a more or less critical view of those relationships. For example, it is the case with ‘El centenario de Cervantes’ [rote] or the ‘mediations over nationalism’ [Rojas], ‘América y España’ [Blanco Fombona], ‘The Germanist Manifesto of Spanish intellectuals’ [Unamuno], or ‘El cuento de la raza’ [Del Campo]
