The Seesaw digital platform: integration into a dynamic class

Abstract

This study has been funded by the University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE). Its purpose is twofold. The aim is to explore the level of implementation of digital portfolios and, in addition, to assess the level of knowledge about Seesaw. It is a quantitative research, with a descriptive and correlational approach. The data collection technique was the survey with a questionnaire of closed and open questions, applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 67 teachers from the Secondary Level of private schools belonging to the District 15-03 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Results show that most of the participating teachers do not work digital portfolios with the aim of building new knowledge, but rather as repositories of documents and work increases. However, they value their integration positively for better monitoring of their class and educational innovation, self-assessment, self-management of learning and building new knowledge. On the other hand, of the Seesaw Digital Portfolio Platform, most of the teachers involved do not know it, despite being an amicable REA that promotes the dynamisation of classes through innovative strategies.
