Governance as a concept represents the ability of a State to carry out the actions it deems necessary to maximise the well-being of citizens. Democratic governance allows greater participation to enable the state to understand social problems and it is in the response to these demands that it can be shown that it is effective. In Colombia, due to historical and cyclical conditions, the crisis of governance undermines the structure of the State. It calls into question its legitimacy and exacerbates the current conflict.
