Teacher training for special education target audience: some considerations on limits and perspectives

Abstract

This work seeks to provide some considerations on important issues related to teacher training and action in Brazil, however, with a view to focusing more specifically on the challenges arising from school inclusion in regular schools. Sharing the view that such school inclusion could and should be understood as a unique opportunity for both the school itself and its stakeholders, through educational activities and practices, to analyse the responsibilities and roles of specialist teachers and other teachers. Information on the training locus and possible breakdowns, be it initial, continuous or at the level of specialisation, are also mentioned, most of which are in the form of a disreadiness to act on the challenges of the cotidy. That line of reasoning points to some implications relating to possible strategies for the upscaling of training, in which collaborative work, which, however, is not free from conflict, is highlighted. Finally, a number of queries are made about paradigm shifts so that school education can effectively push for a systemic reform to redesign education policies in the context of school inclusion.
