I provide an overview of a text that was over 100 years old, but whose timeliness calls for it to be used for the analysis of social scientists and researchers interested in issues such as poverty, social intervention, social policies, among others. In this production, I summarise the central arguments of “The poor” (Simmel, 1908) and highlight some tensions which I build from your inputs.
