Abstract
This article aims to address a concept of integration from the perspective of French immigration policies. As a first step, we have sought to discuss historically the national policies for the integration of immigrants in France. Subsequently, from the perspective of working on various spheres of integration, a parallel with a practice of ecclesiastical integration, tonsury, takes place. From Durkheim’s thinking, it is then intended to discuss the theoretical foundations of the context of the implementation of French integration policies. In this sense, the concept of integration which underpins national identity policies can be found through the processes of social assimilation and coercion.
