University as a space for the prevention of gender-based violence. A teaching proposal through Spanish literature (centuries XIX-XXI)

Abstract

Organic Law 1/2004 of 29 December 2002 on comprehensive protection measures against gender-based violence highlights the need to promote, from universities, training students on gender equality and non-discrimination, which must be included in teacher initial and continuing training plans. The first part of this work focuses on a state of play based on the revision of the legal framework related to the issue, as well as on some of the national investigations that have emerged since the adoption of the law. The second part presents a teaching proposal aimed at students of the Degree in Childhood Education, which aims to prevent and raise awareness of this issue across the board. The project, structured according to the curriculum and methodological elements specific to any didactic planning, exploits the recognised potential of Literature as a source for the diachronistic study of historical, cultural and social issues. To this end, a selection of the stories of Emilia Pardo Bazán and of the writers Dulce Chacón and Luisa Castro were taken as a basis.
