Anthropometric indices in auxological monitoring and nutritional monitoring

Abstract

The problem of food has been for man not only one of its main concerns, but the most important issue alongside clothing and housing. It is not surprising that our ancestors, remote or nearby, drink the blood or eat the heart of their dams in the hope of acquiring the agility, value or force they attached to them. This means that there has been and is a great influence of factors such as fashion, myths, legends, witchery, dark, magic, etc. on the issue of nutrition for both adults and new-born people, which make it difficult to clearly discern where the truth is (Zamora el al, 1992). As part of the growing diversification of Anthropology, there is a field which in recent decades has been strongly boosted by its multiple implications and inputs; this refers to the study of the cultural, biological and social functions of food: Food anthropology.
