Abstract
Summary in this article, I carried out a spatial analysis generated in the Geographic Information System (GIS) environment on the occupation scenario of the cerrite constructing groups in the estuary of the Pato lagoon, extreme south of Brazil. Buskei analysed the intervisibility between the different complexes of archaeological sites in the region, as well as the visibility from the sites in relation to an aquatic mobility route published in previous work. Based on analytical data, ethnohistorical information on reporting using fire and smoke technology from indigenous Pampa groups and archaeological evidence denoting the aquatic world agency in the context of cerrites, I suggested that the estuary of the Patos lagoon would be the focus of visual control of cerritiques. The aquatic world, in its economic and ideological implications, would condition communication, the movement of people and the flow of things and ideas in the lagoon landscape.
