Abstract
This article includes some of the findings of the research ‘Impact of school coexistence committees on the formation of democratic and citizen skills, the case of the Pedro Grau and Arola Educational Institution of the City of Quibdó’ (2016), in which, based on gathering information on coexistence in bibliographical sources and with the targeted educational community, a proposal is drawn up where research can be mainstreamed into students’ classrooms and citizen training. Qualitative research work was carried out with students in grades 4 and 9, aged between 10 and 16, based on surveys, interviews and the development of focal groups. Finally, the work sees school research as a relevant and much-needed strategy that enables students to identify the contexts in which they are involved, while developing skills to be carried out in a respectful manner, thus giving rise to the component of democratic and civic education.
