Abstract
The municipality process developed in Hispania by Rome was accompanied by urbanisation and monumentalisation of the promoted indigenous population centres. The new colonial foundations also needed to equip themselves with a number of buildings and infrastructure works in line with their legal and administrative status. The Hispanos municipalities and colonies took as a model the Roman concept of civilised city, with defence walls, temples for religious ceremonies and public buildings that make life more comfortable (theatres, baths, etc.), or make it possible to carry out the economic and administrative functions carried out in cities (bassils, curias, municipal archives, etc.).
