Young people, participation, voice and action

Abstract

In this report we present the experiences of a university extension course held in Recife, Pernambuco in 2018, committed to youth empowerment. The course was driven by training dynamics, inspired by the precepts of popular education and guided by encouraging the social participation of young people instigated by self-recognition as relevant actors for citizenship, and by identity statements, when leaders were subsidised by political, scientific and cultural practices and knowledge through new and familiar pedagogical technologies for the continuation of these and other actions. In addition to the narratives of the course, we bring the narratives of the trained learners to develop field research when they produced daily journals, whose interpretative analysis of the reports contained therein encourages us to bring their realities and global visions into line with their quality.
