In An amazonous displaced identity: work with the networks, the network of sleeping or rest was of interest. Since the arrival of Europeans in Brazil, both novelty and usefulness, this indigenous invention has been the subject of many texts by writers and personalities. Pero Vaz de Caminha, in a letter to Portugal, quotes it with enthusiasm. As a result, the women in the Portuguese settlers adapted it by adding ornamental balconies, taking local custom for them.
