Indigenous peoples in the context of the development of their rights

Abstract

The recognition of the rights of indigenous peoples in Chile has been reviewed, from the stage of independence to the enactment of the indigenous law in 1993. The various ideological contexts and historical events that explain how the diverse ethnicities in the north and south of the country have gone from conflicting processes of assimilation, integration, exclusion to recognition not only in legal terms but in their anthropological contribution to the Chilean nation.
