MARKETS AND FAIRS AT THE BORDER TRIPLICE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE MARKETING SPACES FOR PRODUCTS IN NATURA IN THE CITY OF TABATINGA, AMAZONA-BRAZIL.

Abstract

The Amazon is undoubtedly an area of interest in studying differences in access to food and how the rapid process of modernisation via communication and trade networks has an impact on eating habits, particularly in small and medium-sized towns. This article seeks to understand the marketing sites and distribution network of food in natura (fruit, vegetables, tubers) in order to analyse the dynamics of the border in the Brazilian Amazon from the availability of food. To this end, it was chosen to understand the spatial dynamics of the supply of products in natura in the city of tabatinga, Brasil-Colombia-Peru border. We believe that one interesting way of analysing the spatial dynamics at the border is through the supply of products in natura, as this dynamic links both the urban network and river dynamics beyond the issue of local and regional agricola production, and more specifically allows us to outline aspects of food security in the region.
