The eco design in sustainability course – Gaia Education Programme: analysis from the perspective of the ecological paradigm and spirituality

Abstract

Understanding the current global crisis by the environmental landscape requires recognition, willingness and willingness to think and create possibilities for fair action in line with the ecological paradigm for changing this reality. A number of ongoing actions include education for sustainability with real and concrete perspectives. This research is part of the research on this education and aimed at identifying spirituality and its typology by analysing it from the perspective of the ecological paradigm and spirituality, in the Eco design course on sustainability of the Gaia Education Programme carried out at Ecovila Terra Una/MG. The programme was set up in 2005 by the Global Educators Network of Ecovilas for a Sustainable Earth, and is considered a standard complement by the UN to the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005\ 2014. Based on the Parent-Learning Pedagogy, the Gaia Education Programme aims to provide tools\ technical to enable your students to learn different sustainable practices, based on community experiences and their relationships with the environment, being rural or urban. The methodology used consisted of literature research on primary and secondary sources of course materials and reference works in the area of sustainability and spirituality, in the context of religious sciences, theology, education, environmental and social sciences. Systematic and interpretative analysis of speeches was carried out. At the end of the research, the identification of the spirituality present in the course, as well as other perspectives of spiritual practices and dialogue as a reference for the development of education for sustainability in an integral manner, was noted.
