This article revisits the contribution of Victor Nunes Leal in Coronelismo, Enxada e Voto for the Social Sciences. Permeates the criticism what the work aroused, highlighting the heated discussions that have even questioned the existence of the Coronelismo, stressing also the interpretation that was given to questioning the thesis Leal.
