Abstract

Interest in the pandemic extrapolates the area of health specialists from the impact on all areas of life, particularly on education. While bringing the strange, which is threatening, destabilising the current order, painful experience mobilises our ability to feel and learn. From this pain learning it is already possible to learn the first lessons of the pandemic: the recognition of the vulnerability of the human condition, the importance of truth in addressing the problems and solidarity with the other. The article concludes that the learning and wider knowledge derived from those lessons has a transformative force, which is a sort of exceedance, not in the sense of naïve sentimentalism, but something that comes from the painful situation itself, since, as Hölderlin perceives, precisely where there is a danger of life-saving.
