Management of the early childhood education: notes about positions, working hours and wage

Abstract

The work is part of a broader research concerning the management of early childhood education in a micro-region at the countryside of São Paulo state, aiming to present and analyze some data about positions, working hours and wage of teaching staff and other professionals working in this field. The data suggest the existence of an inequality between the municipalities and within each one in relation to the positions/functions of teachers, principals and professionals working directly with the children, but who are not hired as teachers. The wage difference suggests, among other elements, the permanence of a vertical and hierarchical relation that does not favor the establishment of a democratic management.
