Abstract
This article is the result of qualitative research, anchored by the methodology of oral history, as a research medium. The aim was to learn from the narratives of two young university students about the phenonality of violence in the relations of namoro. Against this background, disregarding the arguments they put forward for entering into a relationship of violence requires understanding the meanings which they attach to the type (s) of violence suffered. Thus, that research sought to investigate gênero violence, that is to say, actions or conduct, based on gênero, which may cause death, in addition to physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, since such events may occur both in the public and in the private sphere. Gênero violence expresses historically unequal power relations between men and women.
