Abstract
This article analyses the media dissemination of stereotyped images of indigenous peoples, and indigenous women in particular, on the basis of two controversial cases: the television programme of humour La Landscape Jacinta in Peru, and the use of the image of women and clothing Maya in a Guatemalan fashion magazine. This research suggests that the media use of such stereotypes has an amplifying effect, especially through social media, on prejudice against indigenous people.
