In the context of the political problem arising from regionalisms in the first third of the 20th century, this article accentuates the significance of two painters in the Asturian arts who have brought regionalism to its full consequences, Evaristo Valle and Nicanor Pinole, without forgetting the contributions of their predecessors. The work of all of them, and in particular that of the first two, is intended to express themselves beyond roman costumbalism in matters or themes that reflect a new sense of ethnological or folkloric, in some cases reaching a higher degree of universality, which goes hand in hand with the progressive modernisation of regional artistic markets and a gradual plastic renovation incorporating European currents.Winthin the frame of the poiltical probiem derived from regionalisms during the first thrrd of the 20th.
