Youth and Adult Education: the return of women to school

Abstract

The article seeks to highlight and understand how the mobilisations involved in the life context of women who have resumed their studies in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in the city of Sinop – MT are realised. This research with women was carried out in the period from February to July 2011 at the Benedito Sant’Ana da Silva Freire School where they attend basic and medium education, by area of knowledge. The working method was the ethnographic case study because it had its natural environment as a direct source of research. The data was collected through the field book and semi-structured interviews with eight women in the EJA modality. The theoretical benchmark is based on Paulo Freire’s thinking, who has committed himself to putting pedagogical design at the service of popular interests. Another author is Cristina Bruchine, who defends the female head of family, mother and her days and Airon Mergár, who defines the understanding of Gênero as a social, historical and cultural convention. The result of this research includes mobilisations to resume the study, correlated with work and family. The release of women has increased their presence at all levels of education, which has enabled increasing participation in the labour market. education; Youth education and adult education; women; mobilisations.
